Graham Rotheray: "The larva is a colour variety of Syrphus ribesii. This dark variety is relatively uncommon in the British Isles. Of the other two colour variants known in ribesii there is a predominantly white one and one which lies between these two extremes with orange/brown markings mid-dorsally and white elsewhere." |
