 Wing venation Lauxaniidae vs. Anthomyiidae

Hello, is there " simple" way to distinguish wing venation Lauxaniidae vs. Anthomyiidae (there are several which appear tbe the same). Any paper you may reccommend to read or some tips. Regards Lothar |

The anal vein of Lauxaniidae is usually (possibly always) incomplete, and there are slight differences around the tip of the subcosta. |

Without digging into the literature I do not know the 'formal' differences, but anthomyid wings tend to be broadest near the base ('triangular' , those of lauxaniids tend to be broadest near the middle ('ovoid'. Crossvein dm-cu in anthomyiids usually is closer to the tip of the wing than in lauxaniids.

Mesonotal suture complete in Anthomyiidae, incomplete in Lauxaniidae. Of course nothing about wing venation. . .
