I don't know much about European Simuliidae. It belongs to the half of the genus Simulium that includes S. variegatum (legs with pale markings, vein R without hairs basally). If there are hairs on the anepisternal membrane (behind the sclerite, not on it) then it belongs to a different species group.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
