I got to this species and rather easily, but what scares me is the biology of the larva that lives in a saline environment. But maybe not only. |

I agree that we would normally expect to find Halmopota in saline sites, but there are other examples where ephydrid species we thought were associated with saltmarshes have turned up in freshwater, especially associated with rivers. Have you any spare specimens? It would be good to check which species they are. Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |

I only collected one female which I compared to Halmopota mediterraneus from my collection. The female H. mediterraneus is intense yellow while the latter is light gray. I have to find a male. |

I collected a male. It is Halmopota mediterraneus like those collected in Camargue. Here is a photo of this species taken in the Camargue. Edited by christoophe on 18-10-2020 19:40 |
