Phaoniinae ? from southeastern Spain
cmherrera
I'd appreciate any hint about this flower visitor. It vaguely looks like a Phaoniinae to me, but I admit there are many chances I'm downright wrong.

Sierra de Cazorla, southeastern Spain, 17 June 2020, 1600 m asl. Feeding on flowers of Sedum acre

Hi, I think it's one of the Sarcophagidae - Macronychia cf. striginervis.

Greetings, Eric

Thanks a lot, Eric ! I went far wide of the mark ...

The pattern is nrgative of most Sarcs (black on silver rather than vice versa), hence Sarcophila or possibly Angiometopa.

Can you give an estimate of its size ?

Thanks Theo - could it be a Wohlfahrtia (pattern and drop-shaded abdomen)? W. bella?

Greetings, Eric

Thanks, Theo.

Body length was ~7 mm.

I agree with you Theo that it could be an Angiometopa, of which there is also an undescribed species in Spain, as I think you know.
