In Scathophaga stercoraria, the tibiae are orange-brown, as is the front of the frons. The dusting on the body is green rather than grey, and the abdomen not so shiny. The outer cross-vein is hardly darkened, and the overall shape is different. But apart from that, it does look a bit similar. Wink

ah, okay. The spiny legs also reminded me more of Scathophagidae than Anthomyiidae...

Jürgen - the legs bristles are certainly very similar - one of the features that can be used to differentiate between Anthomyiidae and Muscidae is that anthomyiids often (but not always) have more bristly legs - as you say, very like Scathophaga
