Hello, I photographed this leaf mine on a Pimpinella saxifraga in Bazzano (AQ), Italy on November 15th 2019. Is it a Phytomyza mine? And is it possible to identify the species? Thank you in advance, Emanuele Edited by ESant on 04-04-2021 17:23 |

Hi Emanuele, after some respite and exclusion of other possible candidates I'm quite sure it's Phytomyza adjuncta. Greetings, Eric |

How have you ruled out Phytomyza melana? |

I thought I did: http://agromyzida...y/term/388. I could not find an image of the mine but it should start in the centre of the leaf and be short. |

The first image does show mines that are starting in the middle of the leaf. Not possible to determine without rearing adult material. |

No problem. See the recording grade on the website; http://agromyzidae.myspecies.info/taxonomy/term/323 Phytomyza adjuncta is a Grade 5, meaning rearing adults is essential. |
