Crex, the other family site would use different site files and a different database. That would not lean very heavily on this site.

If someone wants to use PHP-Fusion on their own site about any of the other insect families I'm sure we can help to get it going

Paul, if you are worried about too much traffic you shouldn't host another family forum. When I come to think about it this site already has enough bandwidth problems as it is ...

But sooner or later someone will start "hymenoptera.info" and "arachnid.info". This site is too good not to copy! Then the traffic will go elsewhere.

Sure, but then we still might start attracting all those people with other interests. Ultimately, too much traffic will start to slow down the site.

Paul - if it's possible, I think Nikita's suggestion is good - allow the non-Diptera posts, but don't show them on the home page.

it must be easy to find someone that CAN create a forum for hymenoptera.info!!! and this forum could provide a link to there and vice-versa! why not?? someone?? I like the format of this diptera.info.

1. I'd like to reatin the option for non-Diptera, becasue they mey be Diptera-linked in some way.

I'm afraid some problems with uploading images still persist - or 600 pixel width restriction's already active?...

IMHO, drop the non-diptera stuff. It'll find it's way to other sites. Link to useful forums for the other families.

Another ("soft" way: non-dipt go to non-dipt forum without appearance at home page
Kahis

IMO: remove the non-diptera section. For other insects, start a new forum or take over BugGuide

Paul,
I agree, you should limit the non diptera posts or even consider removing the non diptera forum altogether. These non-diptera posts are now interfering with the efficient viewing of more legiti
