Hi,
Sorry for the bad pictures, but the fly did not allow for more. Wing venation and habitus point to Phasiinae, and the big pulvilli should make it a male. The body colouration, however, does not ring a bell to me. For a male, the fly would be quite unobtrusive... Can it be identified nevertheless? The location was southwestern Germany, 50 km west of Stuttgart.

OK, no other option than
Phasia obesa. The brownish spot on the thorax is strange. All the
obesa males that I have seen until now had at least some grey dusting and clearly visible presutural stripes. Perhaps I should better delete the pictures... Many thanks nevertheless!
