Hi, yesterday I've met a female Hybomitra but she only allowed some dorsal photos and I'm not sure, if it's possible to determine based on the poor images with the excellent "Velgids Dazen". The closest I could find is H. muehlfeldi (but there's no fen nearby), followed by solstitialis (ciureai). What's your opinion?
In my garden: Ansbach, DE-Franconia, Frankenhoehe Nature Park, old deciduous forest, 2021-07-10.
Thank you and best regards

Well, they can fly of course, looking for blood.
But it seems to me the notopleural lobe is pretty dark, hence bimaculata ?
