Found at the margin of the beach at Garth's Voe, Graven. Seems to be a Scaptomyza flava which hasn't been recorded in Shetland previously. Correct ID, or is there anything similar?

Now you know why Scaptomyza pallida is called Scaptomyza 'pallida'.

S. (Parascaptomyza) pallida can ideed be pale. However, in this case the outer rows of acrostichals are (although barely) visible; the inner rows, on the border of median dark strip, are barely visible too. I think it is a Scaptomyza s. str. - or, who knows, Hemiscaptomyza.

Thanks for the lesson in Latin Paul , but I was aware of the meaning of "pallida" First pale one I've seen here since I started taking photos of flies and 13 years and 10 days since joining Diptera info. So not very common for such a common species here.
Thanks for the input Jan, It was a record shot taken from distance of a very small fly hence mostly out of focus. It flew off before I could get any decent shots.One for the recycle bin normally if it hadn't been "unusual" to me...
