Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Phaonia rufiventris?
#1
I think this is Phaonia rufiventris, based on Fonseca's 1968 Royal Ent. Soc. key and a 2009 guide by J. Erkelens on this website: three posterior spines in middle tibia, narrow dark pre-sutural stripes, and pale bases to antennae.

But on the other hand I can't see any pale hairs on the katepimeron, there is an obvious dark base to the scutellum, and very little orange on the side of the thorax.
The aristas are too ragged to be much help.

Can anyone confirm or otherwise, please?

Thank you. I'll have a go and report back.

It comes out as rufiventris using Nikita's key, including concave tips to the cercal plate as in fig. 4.
Thanks, John
