Looks like a ground bug (Lygaeidae) but I can't find it in my books.

No, family is Miridae. It bears some resemblance to a Lygus (not Lygaeus of Lygaeidae!), but I do not know it. Go to http://www.koleop...index.html and contact expert Dr Hannes Guenther, he will help.
