Hello,
On December 6, in my garden in Lille (North of France), I photographed on a blade of grass this tiny Diptera I had nerver seen before. This insect being very small (2 mm maximum), I did not manage to take a clear picture, however I was curious to know, at least in part, its identity.
I hesitated in particular between the Chironomidae and Ceratopogonidae families but, on the LMDI site, I was rather directed towards the Chironomidae and, probably, the Orthocladiinae subfamily.
If it is possible from my photo, I would like to know if it is indeed this Chironomidae family, this Orthocladiinae subfamily and, possibly, to have an indication about the genus.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Dominique

I would agree with Orthocladiinae, but difficult to say more from a photo of a female.
