Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Which Pollenia? (07.02.23) --> P. angustigena or perhaps rudis

Hello,

a Pollenia female at 4 °C at some fruits in our courtyard this afternoon (northwest Germany). Is it possible to tell more than the genus?

Hi Jürgen, basicosta pale and looks like mid tibia has only 1 ad and the outer posthumeral bristle is present: could be P. angustigena - but not sure! P. rudis would be the alternative.

I had angustigena in mind, because it did not seem to have the right "look" for rudis to me. But that feeling (I know, "feelings" are not the correct way for identifying insects...) may have fooled me. It's an old, worn specimen...
