This fly resembles a little bit Villa limbata of Japan, which I never actually observed.

Could be a Villa species or one belonging to a very close gerus.

Thank you Xespok. To tell you truth it doesn't seems to very much resembling, but this one is my first Bombiliidae, so it is hard to me to have any decision. (Today I met the second!)

This fly is still not rare in Pattaya.
It seems to that two years ago we havn't yet David in Diptera.info...

I am afraid the Oriental region is a bit beyond my competance. The wing venation is more suggestive of
Exoprosopa or allied genus than
Villa. Best i can do at the moment Nikita

I collected a specimen for you, David

This is actually a Ligyra (they have 4 submarginal cells; Exoprosopa have three). It looks like Ligyra oenomaus (Rondani). I collected specimens of this species in Singapore and Malaysia. Although it has not yet been recorded from Thailand there is no reason it cannot be found there.

Wow! Every fly get it's name sooner or later. Thank you Neal.
Should I start to collect Oriental Bombyliidae for you?
