Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Chlorops pumilionis (female)? --> Thaumatomyia notata (male)

Hi,

This very small fly took a rest on a leaf at our garden hedge.

I suspect it could be a female of a Chlorops species, maybe Chlorops pumilionis.

Can that be confirmed or excluded from the attached image and/or is a determination possible?

Is the stuff at the end of the abdomen an egg-packet or just excrements?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Munich (-West), 15.05.2023, app. 3-4 mm

Greetings, Uli

Hi Roger,

thank you for the identification, at least the family was correct Frown. That seem to be "pheromone sacs", though. Never heard of that before ...

Greetings, Uli
