Hi all!

Just to remove my last few doubts: Am I right with Hammerschmidtia ferruginea? (Female is clear, size fits)

15.6.2023, Germany, Upper Bavaria, Ainringer Moos (high moor) near Freilassing, ~430 m a.s.l., coordinates 47.83033, 12.92193

I think you are right. Sometimes it is difficult to tell Hammerschmidtia from some Brachyopa species, but Hammerschmidtia should have a longer body, which your specimen has. There should be also some differences in venation of wings, but I am not able to see it when wings folded.

Thanks Treebeard!
This longer abdomen was my hint, too, the Brachyopas always look much shorter (I know only from pictures).

I agree that the slender abdomen is very different from what you find in Brachyopa. Can't se any other option than Hammerschmidtia.

Thanks for confirming, Karsten!
