Hello,
the many forms ("macho"/"non macho"
and variations of
Phasia and
Ectophasia still confuse me. Currently
Phasia hemiptera and
Ectophasia crassipennis are abundant here (northwest Germany).
But I can't readily assign this 8 mm fly from our courtyard to a species (clearly it's no
P. hemiptera) and not even a gender.
It shows some kind of 'M' character on the thorax, but otherwise is very different from
Phasia aurigera. Can someone help me?

I'd vote for female E. crassipennis.
Thanks, Eric! Meanwhile I also came to that conclusion.
