Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Cylindromyia?

Hello, the ttached image was taken in may garden in Stuttgart, Germany. I think that Cylindromyia is clear. Can anyone identify the species? I have some more photos, should other details need to be visible. Thanks in advance, best regards, Pit

Hello, I cannot see enough details to make a guess. If you have good lateral and dorsal photos, I'll try it again.

Hi Eric, unfortunately the perspective in the photo is about the only one the flies (and the setting of my garden) allowed for. Thanks for trying anyway! Best, Pit

Hi Eric, the image was taken on Aug 13, 2023. Should it be relevant: the garden is in an urban area at approx. 300 m above sea level, and the plant is Echinacea sp. Best, Pit

Based on this pic and general occurrence pattern, should be C. brassicaria.
