Hello,
In 01/09/2023, my coleague collected 6
Sciapus specimens (1 male and 5 females) from
Posidonia debris in a beach of the Greek island of Lesvos. I tried to identify them using both Grichanov's 2007 work on East Mediterranean taxa and Grichanov & Negrobov's 2014 revision, but with no clear result. I mostly keyed out around
S. basilicus in both works, for both sexes, but I don't think that it is correct. Below, I provide photos of various diagnostic characters (male and female habitus, fore tarsus of the male, genitalia, pruinosity of the thorax and frons, etc). Unfortunately, the specimens are in quite a bad condition now (they shrivelled/dehydrated quickly after taking them out of ethanol), but I can take more photos if needed.
What do you believe?
Thanks!
