Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Sepsis

Today I found this tiny Sepsis sp. against one of our walls. It was just a few mm long. Would it be possible to tell which species of Sepsis this is from this rather poor picture?

Hello Amalia, I also thought it might be Sepsis cynipsea, after checking photos in the gallery. But I know too little of Sepsis to be sure. Thanks for your opinion!

I think S.punctum. 3 reasons:
3. yellow legs, reddish abdomen
2. I can see only 1 pair dc
1. In Febr-March I've never seen another species than fulgens and punctum

In the moment S. fulgens is very numerous here (Ostwestfalen/Germany). But this one yesterday was considerably larger (4 mm) and has a red "belt". Is this S. punctum, too?

Yes. It is male of S.punctum
