Are they impossible to id without a "microscope"?

i'm just an amator, and he fly are no my field. just learned something here.

Well, there's really nothing to add, except that we have a female here

Most of Trichoceridae species are impossible to identify from the photo and in any case a good view of genitalic structures is needed.

I wouldn't say it is a waste of time though. If you could catch some of them, put into alcohol and send them over to me - that would be an addition to our knowledge about those insects
