Hello everyone,
I found this approximately 8 mm fly yesterday in the Black Forest, southwest Germany. I assume a Muscidae, but I'm not even sure about the family.

Hello Siggi, I think it's a female
Thricops simplex.

Hi Eric,
thank you very much for your fast answer.

Eric, I agree with your guess that probably it is Thricops. If so, why T. simplex? If so, my best idea is T. albibasalis.

Thank you very much once again, Nikita! I was not sure about simplex - so I had better suggested Thricops sp.

Thank you for your contribution Nikita. If I understand you correctly,
Thricops albibasalis is not safe either. So it will probably be best if I name the picture
Thricops sp. Or can I also write
Thricops cf. albibasalis?

Rudolf, identification of females from photo is a difficult task.
My best offer: Thricops ? lbibasalis ??

ok. So if the genus
Thricops is unclear, I'll change the heading again accordingly.
