Hello,
I found this fly inside an
insect box today. The fly would not have got in from the outside, so it must have hatched somewhere inside. There was just some soil in the box. Size was less than one centimetre, maybe 7-8 cm? Is it possible to identify the species?

Hello Volker, based on your nice photos I think it's a female of the
Exorista rustica group.
EDIT:
No it isn't: 4 dc post! So I think it is the female
E. larvarum.

It has a wide range of Lepidoptera hosts.
