Hello,
I photographed this fly near Passo San Nicolò (TN), Italy, 2400m a.s.l. on August 3rd 2023. This time I'm not sure of which family it may belong to. Is it possible to identify its genus or species from these photos?
Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Yes, it looks a bit weird.
It is a female Loewia (Tachinidae). Difficult genus.

Thank you very much! My first guess was Rhinophoridae, but then I remembered that there are also some Tachinidae and Sarcophagidae that can look similar, so I was quite confused.
