Thread subject: Diptera.info :: No idea...

11th June 2008. M?laga, south Spain. Size: same than an Episyrphus balteatus (much bigger than Syritta pipiens. that is a mistakable one). Female. Habitat: in an unknown Apiaceae flower.

But... i't very different to Syritta pipiens (very common species in my zone). Almost double larger and no straghthed abdomen...

It's a female, these are generally larger than males, and within females the size differs, they can be quite large, as this one is...
As for flaviventris, that species has a lot more yellow on the abdomen, and also some other characters like the pollinosity on the head that is different.
So this is definitely a female Syritta pipiens!
