Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Syrphid male

Hi,
Today I saw this Syrphid male licking aphid honey dew from a leaf. The abdomen pattern recalls a bit Melanostoma, but he was much bigger. ID help is greatly appreciated,

It is rather uncommun (at least in France), ans so peculiar indeed. Smile
