An idea for this little fellow photograped in Southern Corsica (Serra-di-Ferro) on July 27th 2008 ? Approx 8 mm.

Try renaming the thread to "small bombyliid" to attract David Gibbs - he should be able to confirm the I.D.

this is easy. This is Cyllenia rustica. Very common here in Portugal during June. I have seen dozens of them.
