Here is a syrphidae I photographied in July 2008 at Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada (near Vermont, USA).

This male is whether an Eristalis arbustorum or whether an Eristalis brousii...

Any idea???

it looks like E. arbustorum to me. The most obvious difference is the basitars of the second leg: black in E. brousii; yellow-brown in E. arbustorum.
