Is this the right place to ask members the names of various flies?
Kralingen ZH, the Netherlands
Thanks in advance, the results will be used on my website
http://insecten.in.kralingen.nl
(I think the flower is
Crataegus crus-galli)

Hoi Elck,
The upper photo shows an Empididae, most probably Empis tessellata!
The other photo pictures a Dung fly of the family Scathophagidae, and it could very well be the Golden Dungfly, Scathophaga stercoraria!
Greetings

The right place is where I have moved the thread to: Identification queries | Diptera (adults)

Well, it is not
Empis tessellata. The fork in the posterior radial vein (R4+5) is absent, so it must be a species of
Rhamphomyia. The colour pattern in the wing makes me think of
R. cinerascens, of which the females have a partly darkened base of the wing. However, the first question I should then ask is 'when was the picture taken?'.
