Hello Flyforum,
Yesterday I found this little black fly near the Amsterdam Woodforest, next to water on a bridge.
it was rather shining and mostly black.
Thorax was typical short and some round.
What kind of fly is this?

Hi Robert
I would say Muscidae (or Fanniidae or Anthomyiidae). There are not many species of this size which are so shining black. It could be Coenosia atra - though your photo appears to show a ventral apical bristle on the front tibia, which this species should not have.

Hmm. having sorted some forest flies today I have to say that this one if very close to some female
Fannia. Perhaps my 1st guess was wrong.
