Location: Obersulm, Germany (Wuerttemberg), ivy on the roof of a garage, 19. September
approx. 15mm (didn't try to catch it), spent more than an hour collecting nectar

Beginner's luck.

The spot seems to be quite popular, this little lady showed up two hours ago. Together with the two males I saw on Saturday, it is probably enough to call it a good year. Smile

BTW, the first one I saw through the view-finder of my camera was a female that appeared in the background when I was taking some pictures of a Volucella zonaria last Friday. One of the males was there on Monday and Tuesday, (not as cooperative as on Saturday).
