Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Syrphidae, a dark small one

location: Switzerland, 412 müM, on my balcony
size: small one, about 6mm
date: 22.10.09, today
difficult to show a dark on a pic which is well enough to see any details . . .
is it possible to give an ID? (platycheirus??)

This could be a male
Melanostoma dubium. But since I never caught it myself... Did you put it cold?

Platycheirus male, in picture 2 you can see the enlarged tibia 1 on the left side. Actually, you see 4 legs there, but the first is from the right side, the second one is the first left leg, and that one you see widening to the end! Also you can see the somewhat broadened tarsae.

I wanted have a pic from the head - head is not "sharp", but the front legs are more detailed.
Did I puted the marks on right place? I didn't kept an eye on this detail. Is it always "platycheirus" with this legs?
Sorry that I didn't showed this pic - not knowing that it shows important details :-(
