Diptera.info :: Syrphidae, no idea of ID

Location: Switzerland, 412 müM, still on my balcony
date: 28.10.2009
size: small short one, about 7-8 mm?
think it is a new one for me and looks a bit "special"

was my first thought too, but the spots are so "funny" - more like female and so "angled like" . . . hhhhmm

It is late in the year for Syrphidaes. Is this a reason for other "types of colour" or is it hazard? I will open a new thread with this question adding pics from E. balteatus.
