Hello Smile

Another confusing Eristalis, I only have the one face view but most of the legs can be seen. I've made a closer crop of the face.

It doesn't seem to fit any we have here Wink

Taken on 26th October 2009. Near Lincoln UK.

I'm now thinking this could be a Helophilus female!Shock

The eyes seem a little too close for a female Eristalis, but not the correct shape for a male. The arista I think on male H. pendulus are yellow but not sure what colour they are on a female. The yellow thorax hairs would fit Helophilus, as well as the leg colour.Wink

Grin I wonder how many more people were as confused as I was!

I must have know when I took the pic what it was, but who would have thought a Myathropa florea had a face like this? Wink
