Found in the Scottish Highlands on 31/07/09. Could I have an ID please.

This would be Chrysotoxum arcuatum (L) (in some publications C. fasciatum (Müller)).

That is very well possible over there. Nevertheless it looks a lot like some other Chrysotoxum-species, like C. cautum.
