Hi guys,

This beastie was found half way uup Mt. Salak on Java. It was about 12mm long and had a very loud bee-like buzz. Any ideas on ID?

Third time lucky?

EDIT Paul Beu: If uploads fail despite apparent compliance with the obvious requirements it can be a conflict issue between extension and file header in the file. Usually it works by opening the image in another image edittor and saving it as a new file.

Syrphidae: Eristalinus or something close to it.

Yes, Eristalinus sp. female, could be the not uncommon Eristalinus arvorum!
