This specimen was photographed by Albert Perrin in Giens (France). Who knows the species?

It's a male
Sphenometopa, possibly
fastuosa. (
S. eluta and
S. stelviana also occur in France, but I'm not sure how to separate them.)
Apart from the all-white frons and orbits, and the black basal tergites, note the dark spot on the wing (not immediately obvious in the photo).

Sphenometopa variegata is doubtful in France, and I want to know if somebody have precision if this species is present or no in France ?

Hmm, I see you are right ... It's mentioned as doubtful on Fauna Europaea.

This is indeed Sphenometopa fastuosa.
