This huge fly, 20mm long was caught in the house at light during the day. There is only one every year, so it does seem an aweful pity to kill it.

Wohoo!! I have pinned-out all the tachs you sent in your last parcel ... most are very small siphoniines (so going to be nigh impossible to identify) but there was one Prosena, which is certainly more do-able

Rutilia is a very difficult genus and I have only limited experience.
If you collect one and send it over, I can get you an ID.
Otherwise ... not, alas.
