I know this is a long shot. This is a Geron species that measured approx 7mm. Photographed in the Chicago area nectaring on various flowers.

i am sorry but cant help here, never worked on Nearctic Bombylids. there ae numerous Geron in N. America and even with a specimens i would struggle.
