Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Landlivng Trichoptera, Psychidae, or .....?

Found this 5-6 mm creature on a Birch in my yard. Has been around the lepidoptera genera around Psychidae, the few landliving Trichoptera but can't find anything resempling. Any help?

I know there are some Chrysomelidae that have larvae with similar casings...

Thanks. I've had the same suggestion elsewhere, så Chryptocephalus sp it is. Unfortunately there are several species of Chryptocephalus which make this kind of pots (Pot Beetles in English), so it's not possible, as it wasn't collected, to determine to species. Try to find a couple more tomorrow, so perhabs...

They caused us some headaches in my previous job as well, but finally I found out they were chrysomelids. BTW, the correct name is Cryptocephalus, without the h.

Found a couple more in the vicinity of my garden. Not on Birch but on pine. They both turned out to be Cryptocephalus parvulus.

It seems we had the same larvae (see http://www.dipter...d_id=29990 Grin). So I shall name my photos Cryptocephalus spec., too. That is a large and difficult genus, and one should watch the hatching of the imago to dare species ID.

I've found a couple of Cryptocephalus under the Birch in my garden last week. Both Cryptocephalus flavipes I think, so the larva could be this one, so perhaps mine will go down as Cryptocephalus cf flavipes.
