It's not Gymnosoma, but the closely allied genus Gymnoclytia.
Differences with Gymnosoma:
Abdomen less global (flatter), with distinct sutures between tergites, scutellum with apical.
Also sprach Monty Wood in the Manual of Nearctic Diptera (the new world specialist).
Gymnoclytia is also strictly new world.
