Some new Diptera pics from Paraguay are waiting for identification.
Please enter http://www.pybio....0/diptera/ to have a look on the pics. At least ID to family is wellcomed and will help.
pybio.org is an attempt to document biodiversity in Paraguay.

Please contact: ulfdrechsel@hotmail.com.

Thank you,

ulf

Hi Ulf ... normally we only work on photos posted to the forum because it reduces confusion. Also, I would urge replies to be posted in this thread because otherwise it isn't very interesting for forum members. Wink

If you are happy to collect specimens then better, more definitive identifications are possible Smile

Looks like Belvosia:

Looks related to Blepharipa/Lespesia/Leschenaultia:

Although this is likely to be Chrysoexorista, there are other metallic green tachinid genera so a specimen would really be needed to be sure:

I have an Archytas sp. that looks very similar to this - but it needs keying properly:

Tribe Anthracini. It looks like the Xenox genus.. (at least I'm sure about the tribe, not the genus, though)

I'd say Exoprosopini tribe (at least seems rto have rr vein present if I see well - it is hidden by a strong dark colour..)

And, please, take more photos. Paraguay is an incredible country for insects! I think many of us would like to see much more photos of dipterans from Paraguay. I will look forward for news. Thanks for sharing.

I think you have two Fabricius species of Bombyliidae: Anthrax oedipus and Hyperalonia morio.
