Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Two small flies

Hello!

Here are two other small (6-7 mm) flies I found today in Ostwestfalen/Germany. Sorry about the picture quality!

Could the first one be a Pachygaster? For the second one I have no idea.

Second one looks like Phania sp. (Tachinidae). The species is hard to see from the photo but the commonest here in England is 'funesta'.

The first one is a female of Nemotelus. The characteristic elongated face is visible in the pic, as are pale triangles on the mid-line of the abdomen. The species is probably notatus or uliginosus.
