Could I try to repit a question?
Now I know that it is common. The question is:
the way Scathophaga eat the victim is Asilidae-like or Dolichopodidae-like or else or unknown?

As they have no piercing mouth parts I assume it will be in a similar way to the Dolichopodidae though they may secrete some digestive fluids as well to facilitate feeding.
And the dance fly is a species of
Empis, nothing more specific as yet.
