Hi

again on my balcony-flowers:
Switzerland, 06.10.2011, 430 msm, size about 11 mm

Could this be Eristalinus aeneus, a female?

Thanks a lot for confirmation or adjustment, kind regards, Brigitte

Brigitte, it IS Eristalinus aeneus, female. No shadow of doubt Wink Not only because it has no trace of hairs on the lower part of the eyes but it has the looks of aeneus. Eristalinus sepulchralis looks different and has obvious hairs all over the eyes.

Best

Hi Piluca

Thanks for confirmation with the differences sepulchralis/aeneus!
Both hoverflies I should be able to ID in future.

Kind regards, Brigitte
