I was photographing this frog when I realized there were a couple of biting midges on the frog.
Sorry, the frog leaped away before I could zoom in on the midge.

What I see is consistent with
Lasiohelea (basal antenna segments short, second R cell long and narrow). As far as I know there are only three (su
genera that suck vertebrate blood, and this does not look like
Culicoides or
Leptoconops. I have not seen the reference I listed and I don't know if species can be determined from a photo.
