Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Melanostoma scalare?

Can anybody confirm if this is Melanostoma scalare? Wing length was approx. 7mm. As with the one above, this was taken from my garden in Wolverhampton, UK on the 17th September.

I still have the specimen if further photographs of the head/legs are required? Smile

The heavy dust spots on the frons look good for scalare.

Thanks, Ian - would a close up of the face be a help to identification?
