Hello,

I made this pictures on 10-09-2006 at Apeldoorn, Netherlands. In a area with wet grasslands near the river IJssel. Size of the fly 8-10 mm. I hope anyone helps me with the identification. Thanks in advance.

Sticking my neck out a bit here, but I think it might have a posterodorsal bristle on the hind tibia (just visible in the top photo only), so it could be Phaonia sp

Thanks for your message. Here a detail of picture 1. May be You can see it better now. Otherwise it is Phaonia spec. I think.

Hmm... I think this combination of bristles is Helina sp. You need someone more expert than me for this one really.

Well, just be thankful it's robust enough to look fairly definitely Muscid (and venation and facial bristles suggest Muscid) so it is not possible Muscidae/possible Anthomyiidae.
